At the beginning of this trip, we had left the middle three days open with nothing booked. We knew we wanted to be in Amsterdam the first fees days and the last few days, but wanted to stay open for the middle. Based on tons of recommendations and insights from other people on our tours yesterday, we decided to go to Bruges Belgium! There were very mixed reviews on Brussels but people overall seemed to love Bruges and Ghent too. With that said, today was out travel day at Bruges.
What started out as a 3.5 hour trip with 3 transfers, turned into a 5.5 hour trip with 5 transfers 😅 all due to our first train being cancelled because of railway worker strikes in Belgium… we went Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Breda – Antwerp – Ghent – Bruges
All that said, there was nothing we could do to change it at the end of the day and we made it through ! So here’s a few photos of some train stations.

After many hours and many train transfers we made it to this wonderful view in our hotel room! And went off to dinner!

I overheard a Belgian on the train telling some travelers that they had to try Fleming Stew and mussels in Bruges… so thank you , that’s exactly what we did!! And it was so yummy!

After dinner, I went for a stroll to get a lay of the one and a sweet treat! This town is so beautiful! Love the old buildings!

Much more to come tomorrow!
