Final day in Belgium. While we only got to experience one part of Belgium, I can say it’s been beautiful and we loved learning about the history!
After the many drinks we had last night…. We needed some food in our stomachs first thing in the morning and ultimately… that resulted in McDonald’s for breakfast to settle our stomachs..🥴

Once we had recovered a bit we went on a walk on the outskirts of town. Brugges used to be surrounded by a moat and city wall. Now, there is only one gate still standing and only parts of the moat. This walk along the moat also had 4 Dutch windmills that were so cute!

It was lovely to leisurely still the outskirts of town. Many tourists stay in the center but our guide from the food tour yesterday said to make sure we do this walk and see the often unseen parts of Bruges.

All that walking resulted in us finding a relaxing spot for people watching and of course hot chocolate! 🤤

Later we went to the Basilica of the Holy Blood. This church is unique because it’s much smaller than typical churches in Europe. And also, it is home to piece of cloth that (supposedly) had Jesus’ blood on it. Legend has it that Joseph of Arimathea preserved the Precious Blood after he had washed the dead body of Christ after the crucifixion. Although the blood has never scientifically been tested… people travel from all around to see it, and we saw it. Doesn’t look like anything special to me, but who knows 🤷♀️

After this, we met up for drinks and dinner with our bartender the night before, our friend Jason. He took us around and we met some of his friends and got some VIP service because he knew the owner of the restaurant. Even getting Monique some chocolate as she requested even though it wasn’t on the menu.

Lovely night meeting new people and hearing about their lives. I always enjoy hearing people’s stories and their view on life. It provides new perspectives and challenges your own. I really appreciate that about these new experiences.
