Tunisia – Day 7 – Douz, Es Sabria (Sahara Desert)

Late post due to lack to internet! Yesterday, we spend the day in the desert! SAHARA DESERT to be exact! We were guided by 2 local desert people and 4 camels. And off we went!! There is no trail, no way for us to truly know where we are going, minus our guides. They know based off of growing up in the desert and following the sun/stars. The sand is always blowing and moving so the dunes never stay in the same position, height, or location.

We actually walked barefoot. The sand wasn’t too hot and it was more comfortable. This whole experience was quite mind blowing. We couldn’t see anything but dunes 360 degrees.

Stop for lunch. This bread is the same as the night before. Cooked in between ash and sand.

We really had it made. Our desert guides were phenomenal! Setting everything up for us, feeding us, guiding us! Incredible!

This is the Sahara desert. So crazy! The largest hot desert in the world and we only walked a pinch of it.

Camel riding!!! shout out to the camels too! They are working so hard and listen so well. Sweet animals.

We found a spot for camp. While the guides were setting up the tents and making dinner, we went off to watch the sunset.

SURPRISE PROPOSAL!!!! This is Oli and Sophie from my group. So so sweet!!!! None of us knew it was going to happen except our lovely guide Ahmed (who is kindly videoing)🄹

Such lovely people!! So happy for them!

Followed by an incredible sunset!

Back off to camp for fireside dinner.

Peep the stars!!!! That long exposer camera feature coming in clutch.
Sleeping conditions! Desert gets quite cold at night.

I’m so glad I got to experience this! How cool to experience something new and meet new people and challenge yourself!
