Vietnam – Day 13 – Ho Chi Minh City

Today was my last full day in Vietnam! Sad to come to an end. My first country in Asia. My first (partially) solo trip.

I probably booked a day too many in Saigon, so I didn’t have much planned today. But it wasn’t crazy hot so I did get to enjoy it!

Another day another match! (So predictable…😅) The matchas here are so freaking good! I haven’t had a bad one! They are all super sweet, just the way I like it. Some of the ones I get in New York taste like dirt and there’s no saving it, even with a little simple syrup. But THESE! Oof, I will miss!

Lots of walking again today! Walked through this park and that gazebo in the back had people dancing 🥹. So sweet.

I’ve walked pass this one shopping mall so many times. I don’t like to shop when I’m on trips, because most of the time, I can get this stuff in New York. But I didn’t have any plans today so I walked in. Was kinda cool to see some stores that are only in Asia, but they were all high end.

I didn’t buy anything.. but I remembered the guy from my second night in Saigon, told me about a food place in the mall and all I remember was it had a conveyor belt of food. So I was on a mission to find it! And I did!

This was my first hotpot experience and it was so so yummy!!!! Will definitely be finding one in New York!

I had to make a trip to the market to get a bag of mango candies for Kat. She realized she didn’t bring back enough for her friends and family, so I was able to grab another bag this afternoon! Then made my way back to the hotel to drop it off.

A couple days ago, I bought a ticket to see a show at the Opera House here in Ho Chi Minh City. I wasn’t sure what it was, I only knew it wasn’t an opera show… but it was recommended all over. So I was able to clean up a bit and put on my one nice outfit I packed. Had some more time to kill before I needed to head over….. soooo you know…

Made it to the Opera House and they greeted the audience with “welcome drinks”. Never seen that one before. I got peach and lemongrass tea.

It’s hard to explain what the show was. It was AMAZING! There were probably 20 people on stage and they could do everything: any sort of balancing/gymnastics stuff, juggling, singing, dancing, aerial rings. It was something that you would see on Americas Got Talent. And it was funny and super light hearted too! I couldn’t recommend it enough. Such a great way to close out my final night in Vietnam!

My walk back towards my hotel… on a mission to find food!

I got halfway through before I realized I forgot the picture.

Caramelized braised pork and rice
