Tunisia – Day 5 – Zammour

Day 5! Literally feels like we are in the middle of nowhere! The towns are only a couple buildings and you only see maybe 5-10 people sitting at a cafe or walking on the street.

This morning we drove a couple hours to Zammour area to start a trek.

This region has many locations where they filmed Star Wars episodes 4 and 5.definitely looks like something out of a movie.

With our guide: Zied
Dates picked fresh from a tree! Nice snack for the hike
Doggies on the hill❤️
This peak was sooo similar to Horsetooth in Fort Collins. The very end was like straight up climbing on all fours.
This is at the very peak. These are called granaries. The Berber people would store their goods here for safety away from town.
You can see here there are some very green patches in the valley. They build dams in the valleys to collect water and the green patches show where the water tends to collect. That green feels like the most bright and vibrant green I’ve seen in ages!
The crew 🤗
SO CUTE 😅 lol peep the survivor buff 💪
lol felt sooo much longer than this. I think we were out for a total of 6 hours though.

Our hike ended us back in town and we stopped for a soda at the cafe. Which is an unmarked concrete building where men hang outside and socialize. They only sell coffee and soda. Typically, these kinds of cafes are like a men’s club. Oftentimes, women aren’t allowed to leave the house.

Under an olive tree 🫒…. Do not try an olive straight from the tree!! Eep, it was so bitter and left a starchy film in my mouth for about an hour

The men at the cafe play Bocce ball. We played with one of the locals and he definitely should be a professional! Showing everyone up! …. Thankfully I was on his team! 😁😁

Even got out the tape measure😂
Our stay for the night!
